Research

His research is currently focused on the prevention and treatment of colorectal cancer.

His research group conducted the first studies in Spain on early colorectal cancer detection with fecal immunochemical tests, and has published over 70 original articles in national and international journals related to this subject.

Currently he is investigating the effectiveness of non-invasive tests (ie. fecal and blood tests biomarkers) in colorectal cancer screening.

It is one of the founders of the consortium EPICOLON, an initiative created in 2000, including more than 25 centers with the common goal of characterizing familial and hereditary colorectal cancer in Spain.

Belongs to the advisory board of the International Digestive Cancer Alliance.
